Our education no longer tells us something about the sweep of human drama through time and in different places. It no longer invites us to enter a foreign culture through its language and religion. It does not teach us that perspective is a concept that binds mathematics, philosophy and art together in a bundle of perception. There is little thrill and frustration in the discovery of the continuity of human history.

Apocalyptic, as a term in the common vernacular or dictionary definition, means something that is written in an ominous, threatening way. It is scary, thwarting, and about boding evil. The dictionary tells us it is presaging people of imminent disaster, exaggerated predictions, or allusions of the Last Days. The Bible is literature, as is any book, filled with many kinds or types of language. It has Law, History, Wisdom, Poetry, Gospel, Epistles, Prophecy, and Apocalyptic Literature.

What about all those different Bible Translations, how do I know what ones are accurate and best for me? Which one is for what? We will go over each major translation, and give you a chart to show you the contrasts. Remember the Bible was written in Hebrew for most of the Old Testament and in Greek for the New Testament. What does the Bible say about Tongues?


This gift is a matter of hot dispute among many theologians in the Pentecostal, Charismatic and Reformed camps. So, all I can do is show you what the Word has to say, not what people think it should say! (This is why I told you to read it first!) A biblical definition of tongues is speaking in a language that you do not know, that you have not learned, so that another person can supernaturally hear the Gospel or message from God through you in their language. Thus, Tongues is supposed to verbally articulate and point to the Gospel of Christ.

Seeking and searching, in our contemporary language, suggests looking for something that is not there or can't be seen. But, is this what we do when we search for the Will of God? As we begin to celebrate the King James Bible's 400th Anniversary, have you considered its legacy and influence upon you and the world around you? Can you name a document or a book or even an idea that has had more impact and resonance in Western culture, language, literature, and political structure with positive sociology than the good old, tried and true, most spectacular and reverent, the majestic King James Bible? The fact is, no!

The Bible consists of two parts, the Old and New Testaments. Old does not mean that it is outdated and obsolete. Many interpreter's prefer to use the wording "first" and "second" covenant language.
