Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. - Psalm 119:105

Church Leadership

Stewardship Part II

Are you giving what's right, or what's left?

In my experiences and observations, I have observed, with sadness, that most people in evangelical circles do not see stewardship as important. A common response to the subject of stewardship is that all we need to have is a good heart, or be sincere in our faith. Our money, and how we manage life is irrelevant. But, is this true? Is God only concerned with our heart? If so, what does that mean? Well, when you read the Bible, you can see that it has a totally different definition of stewardship than what is popular in the church today!
Biblical definitions of Spiritual Gifts, as defined by the Bible, presented in no particular order. The definitions and supporting Scriptures do correspond to the characteristics of the Gifts as also expressed in most Evangelical and Reformed thinking.
How to Determine your Spiritual Gift(s!

This procedure is much more accurate and honest than just using an "inventory." We have a tendency to read into these "tests" our desires, not those of the Lord's leading.
Understanding the Importance of Spiritual Gifts!

Spiritual Gifts are alive and well both in the Church and in the world. They are not from a bygone era or only for certain Denominations or individuals; they are for you and your church!
Understanding God's call to us with Spiritual Gifts

Now that I am a Christian, I get presents?
Yes! It is often debated as to the normative aspect and whether or not it continues today. Some scholars propose that miracles are no longer a function of the church, and were just a part of "redemptive history." However...
The biggest barrier to what God has called us to be is not how people will respond to us; rather, it is finding those who will go. Jesus was confronting this biggest barrier to evangelism and discipleship both then and today-that of motivation.
The goal of missions as well as the Christian life is our wondrous fear of and friendship with Christ! We start with Him and we end well with Him...
There is one quintessential aspect of what makes a person a good witness and missionary. And, that is, confidence in your faith! It has been my experience and observation that people who are good missionaries are confident in their faith.
When we are not exercising boldness, we will not be able to do missions , in fact we will become Christian cowards. This means we will be held back from what God has called us to do; we will miss the opportunities and connections with others He provides for our growth.
